Roanoke’s Riverdale Project Proceeds minus ArtSpace and some current tenants.
ArtSpace Consulting on Roanoke’s Riverdale project is out, with developer Ed Walker claiming no-harm no-foul with the City getting its 150,000 back. Full steam ahead with groundbreaking scheduled for 2026. Perhaps a blessing-in-disguise as the city got its money back when it didn’t like what Artspace was offering in return. Roanoke Rambler, Virginia Business, and Roanoke Arts Commission report below.

Virginia Business reports Duke Baldridge, a member of the city’s EDA, confirmed that the funds had been returned.
“I think we explored this well-known national nonprofit developer, got real serious with them, and for whatever reason, it didn’t appear that it was going to get the return that we wanted,” Baldridge said. “Ed was very effective at getting our money returned to us.”
Excellent reporting from Jeff Sturgeon here in The Roanoke Rambler on Ed Walker’s recent moves.
Here is a recent QandA with Walker and the Roanoke Arts Commission on the Riverdale Project.
