Roanoke Featured Artist Elain Fleck current “Sylvanus”and recent “Turkey Vultures Find the Spot”
He is a Roman god who is a protector of forests, and he is modeled here by Old Southwestand green activist Terry McGuire. The inspiration for this painting comes from my involvement in an organization this year that was trying to save Evans Spring, the last 150 undeveloped acres in Roanoke City… There is an endless array of motifs and designs in the natural world and I continue to be inspired and fascinated by this process of merging them with paint.
