Manifestation: A Post Industrial Landscape
I am fascinated with photographing landscapes along the borderline of human development that manifest a constant ecological shift. The environment shows signs of man-made erosion and a persistent reclamation by nature, in most cases interwoven. It is this contrast of organic and manufactured that I want to document, both struggling to evolve simultaneously.
The magic hour during dusk or dawn is a key factor when creating my photographs. This time of day is transient, so I must work with great efficiency. I find a special interest in capturing what is not readily available to the naked eye. To achieve this, I record an extended exposure of time rather than just a moment. I am also captivated by low intensity light. Both artificial and natural forms of color tone briefly mingle at twilight, creating equilibrium. The added benefit of prolonged exposure allows me to utilize hand controlled light sources, so I can work freely within the environment and isolate subject matter. As a result, I can illuminate a figure or object within the landscape. I visualize illuminations that dwell within these places. This is like other natural, but sometimes unexplainable phenomena such as afterglow or Hessdalen lights.
I have known Mr. Rehor for many years and have always been impressed by the many facets of his photographic skills. Because of his continual efforts to reinvent the “magic of his lens”, this has led him to become well-recognized in the crowded field of freelance photographers.
